Cookie Policy

Last reviewed 26 October 2026

As it stands today this site sets no cookies. A normal visit stores two small values in your browser.

The two storage keys, by name

bl_age_ok

Written only when you press the confirmation button on the home page overlay. Its value is the word yes. It exists so that the lodge does not ask you the same question about your age every time you open the site on the same device. Only the page reads it, and it is never transmitted anywhere.

bl_consent

Written when you press Accept or Decline on the cookie bar. Its value is yes or no. It exists so that the bar stops reappearing and so that your choice can be applied again on your next visit. It too stays on your device.

Both are kept in the browser's local storage and are not cookies, so they are not attached to requests and never travel to our server. Every read and write is wrapped so that if your browser blocks storage, or you are in a private window, the page carries on and asks you again next time.

What Consent Mode v2 does here

Every page in this site runs a short script in the head, before anything else loads, which tells Google's tag framework that by default:

  • ad_storage is denied,
  • ad_user_data is denied,
  • ad_personalization is denied,
  • analytics_storage is denied,
  • and the framework should wait 500 milliseconds for an update before it does anything.

In short, the default is no. If you press Accept, the page sends an update setting those four to granted. If you press Decline, it sends an update that keeps them denied and records your choice so you are not asked again. No measurement happens in the gap.

What would be set if a tag is added

No Google tag is installed on this site today. The groundwork is here so that one can be added without rewriting every page, and if that happens the cookies below are the ones you would see, and only after you have accepted.

  • _ga: Google Analytics 4, distinguishes one browser from another, about two years.
  • _ga_<container>: Google Analytics 4, keeps session state, about two years.
  • _gid: Google Analytics, distinguishes browsers, twenty-four hours.
  • _gcl_au: Google Ads, attributes a click to a visit, about three months.

Declining, or never answering the bar, means none of them is written.

Changing your mind

Use the control, which also sits in the footer of every page. It reopens the bar so you can switch from Accept to Decline or the other way round. The new choice replaces the old one immediately and is applied on the page you are reading.

Blocking it in the browser instead

You do not have to trust our bar. Every browser can refuse this for you:

  • Firefox: Settings, Privacy & Security, Enhanced Tracking Protection set to Strict, and Cookies and Site Data to clear on close.
  • Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies, Block.
  • Safari: Settings, Privacy, Prevent cross-site tracking, and Manage Website Data to remove what is there.
  • Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions, and set the blocking level you want.

A private or incognito window throws away both of our stored values when you close it. The site still works and will ask about your age and about cookies again.

What this site does not use

  • Social media pixels are absent: the Meta pixel, the LinkedIn insight tag and the TikTok pixel are not installed, and nor are share buttons that phone home.
  • Device fingerprinting, canvas probing and any other attempt to recognise you without storage are not used.
  • Advertising network tags, retargeting lists and data brokers play no part.
  • Fonts, scripts, maps and images are all served from this domain and never from another company's server, so no third party learns you were here.
  • There is no session recording, heatmap or chat widget.
