Privacy Policy

This website is a brochure for a stone lodge above Lake Nahuel Huapi, and it sells nothing. Most readers leave no trace with us beyond a line in a server log.

Who publishes this site

Nahuelmar, Avenida del Cipresal 2140, R8400 San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina, is the operator of this website and decides what happens to the personal data described here. Write to [email protected] or telephone +54 294 442 7318 and ask for the duty manager.

There is no booking engine

This website cannot reserve a room, take payment or open an account, and no card details are asked for or stored in these pages. Reservations are made by telephone or by email and are handled on our own systems at the lodge, which this site does not touch.

What is collected

If you only read

We collect nothing that identifies you: there is no account, profile or tracking pixel. Your browser may store two values in its own local storage, described below, and they never leave your device.

The two stored values

  • bl_age_ok: written when you confirm you are 18 or over on the home page, so the question is not asked again on that device.
  • bl_consent: written when you accept or decline cookies, so the bar does not reappear every time.

Both are stored as text in your browser's local storage, and neither is sent to us or to anybody else. If your browser is in private mode or storage is blocked, the code carries on without them and you are asked again next time. Clearing site data removes them.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records each request to the server: the IP address, the time, the page asked for, the referring page if there is one, and the browser's user agent string. We use these to keep the site up and to notice attacks. They are not joined to anything else and we do not try to work out who you are from them.

What you type into the contact form

The form on the contact page sends your name, email address, the topic you chose, any dates you entered and your message to the front desk. It collects nothing else. Please do not use it for health details, document numbers, card numbers or anything else sensitive; telephone instead, or tell us at the desk.

Analytics and advertising

At the moment no analytics tag and no advertising tag runs on this site. The pages carry Google Consent Mode defaults set to denied, so that if a tag is added later nothing fires until you have accepted. If you accept, Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads tags may set cookies and measure which pages were read; if you decline or ignore the bar, they stay off. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings control in the footer. The Cookie Policy sets out the detail.

Why we are allowed to do this

  • Answering your message: our legitimate interest in replying to somebody who wrote to us, and the steps before a contract if you are asking about a stay.
  • Server logs and security: our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and defending it.
  • Analytics and advertising: your consent, given through the cookie bar and withdrawable at any time.

We are in Argentina and handle personal data under Argentine law. Where a reader is in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we apply the equivalent standards described above.

How long it is kept

  • Contact form messages and the email thread that follows: twenty-four months, then deleted, unless they became part of a reservation record.
  • Server logs: thirty days on the live server, then overwritten.
  • The two browser values: until you clear them.

Who else sees it

Two companies see it: our hosting company, which runs the server and therefore holds the logs, and our email provider, which carries messages to and from the front desk. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising, and we pass it to no other third party except where a court or the provincial authorities require it by law.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to our using it, or withdraw consent you gave for analytics. Write to [email protected]. We answer within thirty days, and in practice within a few. If you are not happy with the answer you may complain to the Argentine data protection authority, or, if you are in Europe, to your own national regulator.

Children

This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect anything from children, and the pages about the gaming floor are behind an age confirmation. Children are welcome in the lodge itself, apart from the lower floor.

Changes

If this policy changes we update the review date at the top of the page and, where the change matters, put a short note on the home page for a month. We have no mailing list, so changes are not announced by email.
